About Antonia
A fascination with light and the pursuit of excellence keep artist Antonia Chew committed to her artistic journey. Growing up in South East Queensland, Antonia recalls a childhood in a relatively isolated fishing village, where she spent many hours drawing and writing. In her senior year at secondary school she won the Steele Rudd Memorial Prize for writing, and had her poetry published in an Australian anthology. On leaving school, she decided to follow her other passion and study Fine Art at the Queensland College of Art, Seven Hills.
Antonia became a secondary school Art and English teacher before studying to become an Interior Designer. She has recently worked as a Colour Consultant in the floorcovering industry for over twelve years. She is available to residents of the Atherton Tablelands for freelance Interior Design projects and Colour Consultations.
Antonia is known widely across the region for her light filled flower and still life paintings, her sensuous figurative work, and sympathetic pet portraits.
Antonia’s paintings have won major prizes in Far North Queensland and are in many private collections throughout North Queensland and in the UK.
